Sunny skies, longer days, soft snow and a hint of sweetness in the air are signs that spring in Stowe is right around the corner. With the warmer temperatures come a variety of outdoor and indoor activities to take advantage of. From spring skiing and riding to new art exhibits and maple sugaring season – it’s one of the best times of the year to visit Stowe. Below are a few favorite spring activities in Stowe:

On the Trails
Longer days and sunny, bluebird afternoons signal the transition from winter to spring, making way for some of the best skiing and riding conditions of the season! Celebrate the season at Stowe Mountain Resort with events like the Sugar Slalom, one of the most recognized alpine races in America. This two-day event will feature a Mardi Gras atmosphere, ski racing, festive costumes and Sugar on Snow. Another spring favorite is the Retro 80s Weekend. Hit the slopes in your best neon colors and 80s mullet.

Not a downhill skier or snowboarder? There will still be plenty of snow for snowshoeing and Nordic skiing. Pick up some rentals from a local sporting good shop and enjoy beautiful views on one of the area’s favorite cross-country trails or break out the snowshoes and take a scenic walk.

Insider tip: Mark your calendar for the Spring 96-Hour Sale at the end of February for discounts on spring accommodations in Stowe.

Après Ski Favorites
Relax after a day of winter adventure at one of Stowe’s many restaurants or cafés. For a family-friendly scene, Sushi Yoshi offers Hibachi and Asian Fusion menus perfect for the whole family. Right next door, Tres Amigos’ relaxed atmosphere and specialty cocktails make it a great post-skiing stop. If you’re looking for a casual, late night setting, Sunset Grille & Tap Room serves food until midnight daily.

Insider tip: Start your day on the slopes or trails at one of Stowe’s cafés and bakeries. Stop into Stowe Bee Bakery & Café for breakfast treats and warm drinks. For a delicious and substantive breakfast, The Bagel offers 20 varieties of homemade bagels.

Vermont’s Sweetest Season
There’s no better time to visit Stowe than during Vermont’s maple season. Cold nights and sunny, warm days will help the sap flow, as local sugar farms begin producing maple syrup. From February through March, white clouds of steam will fill the air. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and see the process firsthand. Visit Nebraska Knoll Sugar Farm for demonstrations and samples in the sugarhouse. Right off Route 100 is Stowe Maple Products, where you can stock up on pure maple syrup before you head home.

Insider tip: Experience the syrup process at many of Vermont’s local sugarhouses during Vermont Maple Open House Weekend in late-March.
