10 Summer Events in Stowe You Won’t Want to Miss

Summer is right around the corner. This means a season filled with many vibrant events in Stowe. The season kicks off with several annual favorites, a day-long Fourth of July celebration with parades and fireworks, and a three-day hot air balloon festival. Run, hike or bike to the top of Vermont, learn to tango or mingle with some of the world’s best tennis players. Take in a sunset while enjoying an outdoor concert during Music in the Meadow, and view unique sculptures throughout town with Exposed, an outdoor art exhibition.

An Old Fashioned Fourth of July
When: July 4, 2018
Where: Various Stowe locations
This classic family event is a Stowe favorite and is the ideal way to spend the holiday, featuring two parades and fireworks. Challenge yourself (or others) in the pie eating contest, fill up on festival food and then run it off during the World’s Shortest Marathon. Take a break from the festivities and shop sales throughout the village and up mountain road, during the annual 7 Miles of Sales.
Stoweflake Hot Air Balloon Festival
When: July 6 – 8, 2018
Where: Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa
Back for its 32nd year, the Stoweflake Hot Air Balloon Festival is a three-day event featuring more than 25 hot air balloons along with live entertainment, food, beer and wine gardens. With two sunset launches, two sunrise launches and the chance to soar above Stowe, this event is a thrilling experience for all ages.
Music in the Meadow
When: July – August, 2018
Where: Trapp Family Lodge
A long-standing tradition in Stowe, Music in the Meadow began in 1976 in Whisker’s Field on Mountain Road, but at the suggestion of Johannes von Trapp, the concerts were moved to the meadow at Trapp Family Lodge. The concert meadow provides a beautiful backdrop for evening concerts. Along with stunning sunset views, it acts as a natural amphitheater, allowing performances to clearly project over the green. The season begins July 8 with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and ends August 5 with Phoebe Hunt & The Gatherers.
Exposed Exhibition 2018
When: July 21 – October 20, 2018
Where: Various Stowe locations
Exposed is an annual outdoor exhibition featuring sculptures throughout Stowe Village and along the Stowe Recreation Path. For the last 26 years, visitors and locals have enjoyed artwork from various artists while leisurely strolling through town among scenic views. This exhibit is a a unique attraction for Rec Path bikers, runners and walkers.
Stowe 8-Miler & 5K
When: July 8, 2018
Where: Weeks Hill Road
Hit the pavement with hundreds of other running enthusiasts during the 37th Annual Stowe 8-Miler & 5K. The 8-miler offers a scenic, rolling course that winds through the Vermont countryside and takes you through the heart of downtown Stowe. If the spectators don’t offer enough inspiration, the mountain vistas, fields and country roads will push you on to the finish.
Stowe Brewers Festival
When: August 3 – 4, 2018
Where: Weeks Hill Road
The Stowe Brewers Festival is a summer staple for the craft beverage enthusiast. This two-day outdoor festival features three tasting sessions, food trucks and vendors, as well as live music for each tasting session. Choose from more than 40 local breweries, cideries, distilleries and wineries.
Stowe Tango Music Festival
When: August 16 – 19, 2018
Where: Various Stowe locations
The Stowe Tango Music Festival is the premier tango music festival in the United States featuring dance workshops, Late Night Milonga and free events such as the Tango Trail and Mini Milongas. This festival is an indulgent of the sense that showcases the elegance and passion of the music and dance of Argentine Tango.
Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic
When: August 18 – 22, 2018
Where: Stowe Mountain Lodge
Back for its second year in Stowe, the Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic is a warm-up event for the US Open and will bring eight of the world’s top men’s tennis players to Stowe. This five-day event offers ample opportunities for fans to view matches at the foot of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s tallest peak, as well as attend the VIP Players Party and Play with the Pros Clinic. Tennis fans don’t want to miss this event.
100on100 Relay Race
