Hike world-class trails.
With so many amazing trails in the area, it’s no wonder hiking is a popular activity. Be sure to take a few extra precautions to both protect public health and the public resource of our beautiful trails, especially in mud season. Currently day hikes are encouraged as shelters are closed. Before you go out, read these COVID-19 trail guidelines from Stowe Land Trust, which conserves land in Stowe for environmental and recreation use.
Walk or bike the scenic Stowe Recreation Path.
Biking is a great activity for safe physical distancing, and with the quarantine, especially as people are riding their bikes more for many health benefits, including exercise, stress relief and getting outdoors and spending time with family. The Stowe Recreation Path is a popular destination for its scenic views along the Little River and West Branch of the Little River. This 5.3 mile-long flat paved path is ideal for families. Rent a bike from sporting goods stores that are taking extra steps to keep you safe. Many shops and restaurants are conveniently located right off the path.
Cool off by the water.
Vermont’s peaceful rivers, lakes, ponds and reservoirs are perfect places to paddle, fish and swim. Local spots surrounded by rolling hills and mountains make for great summer paddling. Rentals are available through local outfitters who are taking extra safety precautions. The Stowe area is also popular destination for fishing year-round, whether you’re a seasoned angler or learning a new hobby. It’s always extra nice to cool off in a Stowe swimming hole!
Golf your style.
Another leisurely activity under the sun is golf. And with breathtaking views all around, it’s hard not to feel recharged after. Unwind among lush, rolling hills and scenic mountain views while hitting the links at one of several golf courses in the area. Fairways and greens are well-maintained. The area also features golf-in-miniature as well as world-class disc golf.
