The Fly Rod Shop

The Fly Rod Shop in Stowe, Vermont offers fly fishing’s best products and gear, as well as Vermont’s premier fly fishing guide service. The Fly Rod Shop offers half and full day Fly Fishing Instructional tours year-round (ice fishing in winter). Their experienced guides will take you and your family or friends out for four or eight hours of private fly fishing. Call for more information, or to book a spot for one of these tours. Free fly fishing clinics are also offered at the shop.

Ice Fishing Tours (**Mid to Late Dec-March 20th**)

In town to ski but looking for another adventure to break up the week? Or just looking to get out on the ice and ice fish? Either way, we’ve got you covered! The Fly Rod Shop offers both half day and full day ice fishing tours throughout the winter. We’ll teach you everything you need to know, from ice safety, to setting up gear to catching fish! Rates include all ice fishing gear; weather appropriate clothing and fishing licenses are required. Call (802)-253-7346 for more info!

Rates:

1/2 Day (4 Hours): $295 for 1 person, $70 for each additional up to 5***

Full Day (6 Hours): $355 for 1 person, $80 for each additional up to 5***

***After trips exceed 5 guests, the pricing structure starts over and an additional guide is added.

Free Casting Clinics (May-September)

Want to give fly fishing a try, but not sure where to start? In these free, hour and a half fly casting clinics we will go through the basics. From fly patterns and the real bugs to casting a fly rod we’ll cover it! All gear is provided-please note, there’s no actual fishing involved. This is an instructional class! Wednesday afternoons from 4:00pm-5:30pm Advance registration is required and can be done by calling the store at (802)-253-7346. ***12 Year Old Age Minimum***8 Person Maximum***

Instructional Fly Fishing Tours
Our most popular program here at The Fly Rod Shop is our instructional fly fishing tours. This program will start off here at the shop where you will be fitted for boots and waders if you don’t already have them, and beginners will have a short casting lesson on our trout pond to learn both the roll cast and false cast. One of our experienced guides will then take you to one of our many fishing spots where you will learn the techniques as you fish! Your guide will show you how and where to make the perfect cast, how to mend the line, how to get a great drift, and most importantly, where to find the fish!

Family Gone Fishing (June – October)
Join us for a fishing trip the whole family will love! This 3 hour fishing program will teach children and adults the basics of fishing while catching a variety of panfish, warm water and cold water species of fish!
