Witnessing the increasingly evident signs of the destruction of our livable environment weighs heavy on the minds of many artists and printmaking has historically served as a medium to consider and reflect on pressing current events. In this exhibition\, artists utilize various printmaking techniques including lithographs\, etchings\, monotypes\, digital prints\, collagraphs\, woodcuts\, chine collé\, and screenprints to examine their responses to the climate crisis and the interconnectedness of humans and nature. \nTo complement the exhibition\, the East Gallery and Art Lounge feature an educational installation on the EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop\, the oldest and longest-running community print shop in the United States. The installation includes coveted works by Faith Ringgold\, Romare Bearden\, and Robert Blackburn. \nStarted by Robert Blackburn in 1947\, EFA RBPMW has always been a co-operative printmaking workspace that provides professional-quality printmaking facilities to artists and printmakers of every skill level and is committed to inspiring and fostering its diverse artistic community. Today\, there are over 4\,000 artists with over 20\,000 prints in the archives. Over 60 countries are represented in The Print Archives. Internationally renowned multidisciplinary artist Chakaia Booker is best known for pioneering the use of recycled rubber tires as a raw material for monumental sculptural works. A fixture of the New York City East Village art scene since the early 1980’s\, Booker has exhibited across the US\, in Europe\, Africa\, and Asia with works included in more than 40 museum and private collections. \nBooker’s work has spanned decades with an intentionality of practice and purpose. She chooses discarded tires to create beauty from detritus\, and elegance from industry in a way that both simply is\, and yet has strong underpinnings of social and environmental justice. Her solo exhibition at The Current\, both inside and out\, highlights beauty and hardship\, tradition and caretaking\, and dives deep into Booker’s practice\, highlighting a monumental outdoor sculpture\, while inside The Current\, her photographs\, prints\, and indoor sculptures fill the galleries. The work asks the viewers to take time to listen\, lean in\, contemplate\, heal\, work\, create\, and be. \nBooker’s signature style stems from a modular approach to building an artwork through layering regardless of media or scale. Elaine Cole-Kerr will promote her Children’s books and Vermont Covered Bridge Calendar! \nAbout the Elaine Cole-Kerr: \nElaine was born and raised in Westmore\, where the mountain top view of Lake Willoughby inspired her painting. Works include portraits of animals and friends and depict landscapes and sights familiar to residents of the NEK. \nA self-taught\, inspiring artist\, Elaine enjoys working in a number of mediums including pencil\, watercolor\, oils and acrylics. Familiar scenes presented by the artist move from the common-place to the extraordinary. Many of her frames are designed and created by her husband\, Rod Kerr. Says Cole Kerr\, “My husband not only makes the beautiful frames but has helped me build my business and is very supportive.” This is a great passion that I so cherish !\nFollowing a brief retirement from painting\, Elaine returned to share her talents\, creating scenes on not only canvas\, but also barn board and glass. Cole Kerr was recently the featured artist at Copley Hospital Morrisville\, NVRH Hospital in St. Johnsbury\, WREN Gallery\, Bethlehem\, N H. Some of her work is also at the NEK Crafter’s Emporium in Newport\, Vt. Elaine will do commissioned work of your favorite place\, jus email her! Elaine also has a gallery at her residence in Greensboro\, VT. \nShe has also exhibited in other venues in our area\, including a display at Greensboro Free Library\, and the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro.\nThe artist’s works call to mind painting by “Grandma Moses\,” Ralph Cahoon and Martha Cahoon\, whose artworks have been associated with the “primitive” school of painting.

DESCRIPTION:Music in the Meadow has been a long standing tradition in Stowe and attracts many residents and visitors. Produced by Stowe Performing Arts\, the first concerts were held in Whisker’s Field on Mountain Road in 1976 and\, at the suggestion of Johannes von Trapp\, the concerts were moved to the meadow at Trapp Family Lodge in the early 1980s\, where they’ve continued every summer since. \nThe Trapp Family Lodge concert meadow acts as a natural amphitheater\, allowing concert performances to clearly project over the green and the gently sloping lawn provides a venue of unparalleled beauty and comfort. \nThe meadow opens two hours in advance of concerts\, and seating is picnic-style on a first come\, first served basis. There are designated\, well-marked areas for blankets\, low-back chairs and high-back chairs. These areas reflect the seating policy to guarantee each concert-attendee a view of the stage as well as the rolling hills of the Nebraska Valley. Witnessing the increasingly evident signs of the destruction of our livable environment weighs heavy on the minds of many artists and printmaking has historically served as a medium to consider and reflect on pressing current events. In this exhibition\, artists utilize various printmaking techniques including lithographs\, etchings\, monotypes\, digital prints\, collagraphs\, woodcuts\, chine collé\, and screenprints to examine their responses to the climate crisis and the interconnectedness of humans and nature. \nTo complement the exhibition\, the East Gallery and Art Lounge feature an educational installation on the EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop\, the oldest and longest-running community print shop in the United States. The installation includes coveted works by Faith Ringgold\, Romare Bearden\, and Robert Blackburn. \nStarted by Robert Blackburn in 1947\, EFA RBPMW has always been a co-operative printmaking workspace that provides professional-quality printmaking facilities to artists and printmakers of every skill level and is committed to inspiring and fostering its diverse artistic community. Today\, there are over 4\,000 artists with over 20\,000 prints in the archives. Over 60 countries are represented in The Print Archives. Internationally renowned multidisciplinary artist Chakaia Booker is best known for pioneering the use of recycled rubber tires as a raw material for monumental sculptural works. A fixture of the New York City East Village art scene since the early 1980’s\, Booker has exhibited across the US\, in Europe\, Africa\, and Asia with works included in more than 40 museum and private collections. \nBooker’s work has spanned decades with an intentionality of practice and purpose. She chooses discarded tires to create beauty from detritus\, and elegance from industry in a way that both simply is\, and yet has strong underpinnings of social and environmental justice. Her solo exhibition at The Current\, both inside and out\, highlights beauty and hardship\, tradition and caretaking\, and dives deep into Booker’s practice\, highlighting a monumental outdoor sculpture\, while inside The Current\, her photographs\, prints\, and indoor sculptures fill the galleries. The work asks the viewers to take time to listen\, lean in\, contemplate\, heal\, work\, create\, and be. \nBooker’s signature style stems from a modular approach to building an artwork through layering regardless of media or scale. Witnessing the increasingly evident signs of the destruction of our livable environment weighs heavy on the minds of many artists and printmaking has historically served as a medium to consider and reflect on pressing current events. In this exhibition\, artists utilize various printmaking techniques including lithographs\, etchings\, monotypes\, digital prints\, collagraphs\, woodcuts\, chine collé\, and screenprints to examine their responses to the climate crisis and the interconnectedness of humans and nature. \nTo complement the exhibition\, the East Gallery and Art Lounge feature an educational installation on the EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop\, the oldest and longest-running community print shop in the United States. The installation includes coveted works by Faith Ringgold\, Romare Bearden\, and Robert Blackburn. \nStarted by Robert Blackburn in 1947\, EFA RBPMW has always been a co-operative printmaking workspace that provides professional-quality printmaking facilities to artists and printmakers of every skill level and is committed to inspiring and fostering its diverse artistic community. Today\, there are over 4\,000 artists with over 20\,000 prints in the archives. Over 60 countries are represented in The Print Archives. Internationally renowned multidisciplinary artist Chakaia Booker is best known for pioneering the use of recycled rubber tires as a raw material for monumental sculptural works. A fixture of the New York City East Village art scene since the early 1980’s\, Booker has exhibited across the US\, in Europe\, Africa\, and Asia with works included in more than 40 museum and private collections. \nBooker’s work has spanned decades with an intentionality of practice and purpose. She chooses discarded tires to create beauty from detritus\, and elegance from industry in a way that both simply is\, and yet has strong underpinnings of social and environmental justice. Her solo exhibition at The Current\, both inside and out\, highlights beauty and hardship\, tradition and caretaking\, and dives deep into Booker’s practice\, highlighting a monumental outdoor sculpture\, while inside The Current\, her photographs\, prints\, and indoor sculptures fill the galleries. The work asks the viewers to take time to listen\, lean in\, contemplate\, heal\, work\, create\, and be. \nBooker’s signature style stems from a modular approach to building an artwork through layering regardless of media or scale.
