Ordinary Time and The Infinite Shapes of Water
Where: Helen Day Art Center
Dates: January 19 – April 14, 2018
Time: Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Ordinary Time is a two-person exhibition featuring the work of painter Grace DeGennaro and the kinetic sculptures of Anne Lilly. The exhibit creates fluidity by turning the ordinary into the extraordinary and pays special attention to the “empty” spaces between shapes, forms and patterns drawing the attention to the unseen.

The Infinite Shapes of Water is a solo exhibit featuring digital photo prints by Philip Herbison, who was inspired by a dam near his home. This exhibit captures how water reflects light, shadows and the hidden beauty within. These large, abstract photos are on display in the East Gallery.

In addition to producing exhibitions featuring internationally and nationally recognized artists and local Vermont artists and artwork, Helen Day Art Center also offers a range of classes and workshops for all ages.

Deep Into Nature and A Reverent Eye
Where: West Branch Gallery & Sculpture Park

Deep Into Nature is the work of Susan Wahlrab, watercolorist, and Dianne Shullenberger, fiber artist. This exhibit is a celebration of the overlooked flora and fauna in our natural environments. Their combined style is a mixture of fabric and watercolor, making this unique exhibit a window into the depths of nature. Susan creates layered pools of color by letting drops of paint fall from her brush over a series of several months. Dianne layers her work using hundreds of individual pieces of fabric and thread to create a collage of fabric.

A Reverent Eye is an ode to the past. Plein air painter Charlie Hunter and landscape photographer Jim Westphalen – both Vermont-based artists, showcase iconic landmarks of Vermont’s industrial and agricultural past. From forgotten barns and houses, to railways and farming equipment, this exhibit is an ode to the past. A few of the pieces are local to Stowe and they showcase the beauty that can be found in decay.

West Branch Gallery & Sculpture Park promotes contemporary art by emerging and mid-career artists. Rotating exhibitions feature a diverse collection of paintings and sculptures. Large-scale stone, steel and bronze sculptures can be viewed year-round in their outdoor sculpture park.

Dates: March 10 – May 4, 2018
Time: Wednesday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Look Up is a solo exhibition, using mixed media layers by artist Galen Cheney. Cheney’s paintings are created using liquid acrylic on raw canvas and collage. The paintings are multi-layered and energetic, with bright splashes of color and almost sculpture-like works of art. The multi-layered technique brings both muscularity and emotions to this exhibit.

Edgewater Gallery in Stowe offers unique and vibrant exhibitions from emerging and established from all over New England and beyond. Exhibits range from paintings and mixed media to sculptures and home-wares.
