by STOWE AREA ASSOCIATION

Summer in Stowe kicks off (un)officially Memorial Day weekend with one of several signature events held throughout the year. Chowderpalooza is the classic spring event you won’t want to miss. Chowder lovers unite and flock to this annual event to enjoy and vote on the best chowders from 16 restaurants in the area.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday, May 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (rain date: Sunday, May 27) on Park Street in Stowe Village. Sample seafood, poultry, meat and vegetarian chowders served with Westminster Bakers crackers, and vote for your favorite. The winner will take home the Chowder Pot and be crowned the Chowderpalooza 2018 winner. This is a perfect event for families and children, with face painting, henna body art and children’s free play activities on the Village Green.

The entry fee of $5 provides tastings from participating chefs from several Stowe area businesses, including:

Chowderpalooza coincides with Spring Art on Park, an artisan market on Park Street featuring local artists and vendors. Browse through handmade jewelry, apparel, accessories and more while listening to live jazz music by the George Petit Trio. Taste specialty food and beverages and other handmade goods. Spring Art on Park is free and open to the public and is the kickoff to the weekly Art on Park Summer Series, which begins on Thursday, June 28 with live bluegrass music and food vendors.

Chowderpalooza and Spring Art on Park are organized by Stowe Vibrancy, Stowe’s downtown organization that works with the Town of Stowe and the wider community to enhance the social, recreational, cultural, economic and physical characteristics of the historic Stowe Village.

Get out on May 26 and enjoy some quality chowder at Chowderpalooza!
