With small town charm and spectacular green mountain views at the base of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s tallest peak, it’s no wonder Stowe is a popular destination for weddings. Stowe offers a beauty unlike anywhere else in the state and truly packs a punch when it comes to things to do. If you are considering getting married in Stowe, here are some things to know about planning your special day in this special place!

Getting Here
Those who live in the northeast primarily will travel to Stowe by car. Wedding guests outside the northeast will likely fly into Vermont’s largest airport, Burlington International Airport, which is about a 40-minute drive from Stowe. Rental cars are plentiful in the Burlington area and are recommended for exploring Stowe and getting around while you and your guests visit. The Morrisville-Stowe State Airport is another great option for those flying in from the New York City metropolitan area.

Marriage Requirements
Obtaining a marriage license in Stowe is relatively simple. Visit the Town of Stowe clerk’s office any time Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. with your license or passport, without needing an appointment. Marriage licenses are $60 plus $10 for a certified copy.

Things to Do
Stowe has plenty of activities for you and your wedding guests to enjoy! Send the guys golfing while the ladies enjoy a spa day, or have everyone ride up the gondola for spectacular views and an optional ride down the zip line. Along with beautiful waterfalls just a short hike from the road and award-winning breweries and activities – from hiking and biking to zip lining – Stowe also offers many unique shops and boutiques for last-minute gifts, or some wedding day pampering. No matter the season or weather, your friends and family will enjoy discovering all Stowe has to offer.

Season
Possibly the biggest factor when it comes to a Vermont wedding is the weather. The most popular months for weddings are June through October as they usually offer more mild and sunny weather. But with Vermont, you can never guarantee sunshine. Rain most definitely will not ruin your big day, but it is important to talk to your venue about a backup plan and take steps to be prepared.

Winter weddings can also be quite charming and unique. Plus your guests can spend their non-wedding days enjoying the slopes and other outdoor winter activities. For a traditionally different wedding experience, consider getting married in the Stowe wedding off-season.

Where to Get Married and Wedding Vendors
Stowe is certainly not lacking in quality vendors to make your big day amazing and offers venues from large and upscale to small and quaint. There are options for various wedding sizes and budgets. Some venues offer additional on-site services such as hair, make-up, and catering and others bring them in. It all depends on your wants, needs and budget. Stowe offers assistance in wedding planning and can put you in touch with the best local vendors.

You can’t go wrong getting married in such a picturesque town as Stowe. With its unmatched beauty and ability to entertain, you and your guests will have an unforgettable experience and memories that will last a lifetime.
