First-Ever Stowe Arts Week Celebrates A Vibrant Arts Community

While many think of Stowe as a winter destination, a community of artists—drawn by the intense natural beauty of the area and nurtured by a supportive population—has grown into an important part of the Stowe experience. The arts community has flourished in Stowe, and this summer, they come together to share their passions and art in a first-of-its-kind event called Stowe Arts Week.
From July 21 through July 29, this week-long celebration will bring together local artists, performers and art lovers to showcase Stowe’s rich arts community and deep connection to the arts. Events will take place all over town, encouraging patrons not only to appreciate and participate with Stowe’s culture and artists, but also interact with the community and experience the breathtaking landscape of Stowe.
Each day during Stowe Arts Week will feature a variety of events and exhibitions. Many of the venues, galleries and performances are accessible by walking or biking, allowing visitors to sample the vibrant arts of Stowe while moving across its canvas of summer. Event highlights include the Helen Day Art Center’s opening walkabout for its “Exposed” exhibition, and Tab Benoit at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center on July 21. Stowe Performing Arts will feature “The Swing Peepers” on the first Tuesday Gazebo Concert of the season on July 24, as well as Americana soul band The Dustbowl Revival at the Trapp Family Lodge Meadow on July 29. The ever-popular Art On Park artisan market will anchor on Thursday, July 26. Theatre lovers will flock to Stowe Theatre Guild’s presentation of the musical “Heathers” on July 28.
Stowe Arts Week is hosted by the Stowe Arts and Culture Council, a group of Stowe community members, organizations and business representatives who gather regularly to collaborate and plan to further the vibrancy and attractiveness of Stowe as an inspiring place to live and visit, with the promotion of Stowe as a global center for the arts at the core of its mission.
