Mark your calendars: November 24 is Small Business Saturday! Since 2010, communities across America have embraced this day between Black Friday and Cyber Monday to celebrate shopping and buying local. Small businesses make up a significant portion of businesses around the country, and they are what we thrive on here in Stowe. Small businesses are at the heart of our community. Small Business Saturday kicks off the holiday season in Stowe – a festive time of the year with several holiday events. What better way to spend Small Business Saturday (or SBS for short) than a shopping adventure in Stowe!

The Importance of Shopping Small
Small business owners give back to their communities. They are our friends and neighbors. On this Small Business Saturday, get started on your holiday shopping while supporting your favorite local shops and restaurants in Stowe! You’ll find something for everyone on your holiday shopping list. Stowe has nearly 50 shops–from boutique clothing and Vermont gift shops, to natural food and sporting good stores–more than you can imagine! You’ll feel good about supporting the very businesses that give back in many ways all year long.

Get Ready For The Day
Kick-start the day with a great breakfast (you’ll need the energy for all that shopping!) The Dutch Pancake Café or McCarthy’s Restaurant are great choices for dining in. For some on-the-go energy, stop by The Bagel or Stowe Bee Bakery & Café. After you’re fueled up, stop by the SBS Welcome Center at Stowe Kitchen Bath & Linens for some giveaways from local shops, free coffee and hot chocolate, SBS giveaways and special Stowe chocolates from Laughing Moon Chocolates. A second welcome center at the Stowe Visitor Information Center in the historic village will have more SBS shopping bags and complimentary chocolate. Now that you’re all fed and have more coffee in you than you think is possible, the fun begins.

Shop Till You Drop
Definitely be sure to visit your favorite shops in Stowe. SBS is also a good opportunity to visit a shop you haven’t been to – we all have one! Several new businesses have cropped up in Stowe over the past few years. Everything from clothing shops like Pink Colony and BunyaBunya, to shops that can help you decorate your home like The Country Store on Main and Edgewater Gallery. Many of the shops will be holding their own special promotions for SBS. Tangerine & Olive will be celebrating its second anniversary!

Check Your List Twice
Shopping has been going well – for you anyway! You bought yourself a new outfit and maybe a new pair of Fly London shoes from In Company, but still have more on your holiday shopping list. What better place to shop for adventure seekers than here in Stowe! For sporting goods, Ranch Camp is perfect for the mountain bikers on your list. AJ’s Ski & Sports and Pinnacle Ski & Sports have you covered for the skiers.

Recover From A Day On Your Feet
It’s now late afternoon, you crossed off every gift you needed on your list, and you didn’t have to leave Stowe. You shopped local, and you know that shopping small businesses helps support local businesses. That makes you feel all warm inside, or maybe it’s the delicious glass of wine you’re now enjoying at Cork Wine Bar & Market; either way, you feel very happy that you shopped local – that you shopped Stowe!
