Celebrate Thanksgiving in Stowe, Vermont

With Thanksgiving just a few days away, families will be gathering together for food, fun and holiday activities. Whether you’re visiting family, or you’re hosting the festivities this year, Stowe’s has you covered when it comes to entertaining your guests. With a wide variety of activities to choose from, you’re sure to experience some winter fun, while bonding with your family and friends. From holiday dinners to Christmas celebrations, below are just a few things happening in the Stowe area during Thanksgiving week.

Early Winter Adventure
With Stowe Mountain Resort now officially open for the season, you can take the whole family slopeside for a day of skiing and riding. For the non-ski enthusiasts, there are plenty of other activities. View the snowy landscape from the treetops on a zip line adventure at ArborTrek Canopy Adventures. Work up an appetite for the turkey dinner at Stowe Parks & Recreation’s Turkey Skate, take a hike through wintry landscapes or immerse yourself in Stowe’s history on a lantern tour.

Craft Brew Exploration
Vermont is home to many well-known craft breweries and, with some located right in Stowe, a craft brew tour is a great way to explore Stowe and bond with family and friends. Take a self-guided tour on our Stowe Craft Beverage Trail and explore various breweries, wineries, cideries and distilleries in Stowe. Designated drivers are required. If you’d like to take a tour with an expert, consider the local guides at 4 Points Brewery Tours and Umiak Outdoor Outfitters. Guides will drive you to breweries of your choice, while giving you a tour of the surrounding Stowe landscape.

Thanksgiving Dinner
While in Stowe, take a true vacation and have a delicious Thanksgiving meal prepared, or treat yourself and dine out. Local restaurants and markets are offering alternatives. Enjoy a delicious meal at The Stowehof, where their family-style feast will feature Thanksgiving classics such as turkey, sweet potato gratin and pumpkin pie. Harvest Market is also offering a Thanksgiving menu for pick-up on Wednesday, November 21. Pre-order a delicious, homemade meal and enjoy relaxing holiday at home. The Lighthouse Bar & Grill is offering a Thanksgiving buffet with food for all ages, as is the Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa.

Family-Friendly Events
Treat the family to a shimmering winter wonderland spectacle at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center’s Shimmer: A Winter Cirque Reverie. Kick-start your holiday shopping with Small Business Saturday (SBS) on November 24. Stop by one of two welcome centers in Stowe for SBS giveaways, prizes, complimentary hot chocolate and coffee, SBS shopping bags and complimentary chocolate. From there, explore Stowe’s local shops for unique gifts and classic Vermont products.

Extend your weekend after the holiday and experience all Stowe has to offer, like A Traditional Christmas in Stowe from November 30 – December 2. This classic Christmas celebration in Stowe features activities for all ages, with events in the historic village and along the Mountain Road. There are other unique events happening such as make your own candy cane at Laughing Moon Chocolates and a wine class at Cork Wine Bar & Market.

Whether you’re hoping to entertain a house full of guests, or to get out of the kitchen for a few hours, Stowe has activities and events for all ages during Thanksgiving week.
