The holidays can be a busy time of the year and can make you long for a quiet, cozy destination. Stowe’s classic feel captures a modern yet romantic atmosphere. In Stowe, you can unplug, unwind and focus on the little things. From winter activities, local shops, fireside dinners and cozy lodging – the holidays in Stowe are unlike any other. Below are a few ways to plan the best romantic getaway to Stowe this holiday season.

Unwind
Book early for the best deals on lodging all season long. With a variety of options from full-service resorts and cozy B&B’s, to boutique inns and romantic lodges, Stowe hotels will match your style and budget. If a Vermont weekend getaway isn’t long enough, extend your weekend and stay a few extra nights. Curl up next to a fire, or soak in a fireside Jacuzzi. Relax and unwind together during a couple’s massage at one of Stowe’s world-class spa and wellness centers. The Spa at Spruce Peak offers a rejuvenating massage for two, which uses a luxurious blend of nine precious essential oils. At the Spa at Stoweflake, couples can enjoy a private, fireside aromatherapy bath and a candlelit massage. Leave Stowe feeling more connected, relaxed and ready to take on the rest of the holiday season.

Explore
Enjoy a quieter slopside experience with early season skiing. A great destination for skiers and non-skiers alike, Stowe was named a New England town that even non-skier can love by the Boston Globe. With pristine outdoor landscapes perfect for snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, dogsledding or taking a nighttime stroll. Nothing quite says a classic holiday experience like a wintry sleigh ride. Live your postcard dreams, while cruising through the trees at the Trapp Family Lodge. If snowy fun isn’t on your agenda, you can appreciate the arts scene at a local gallery or buy gifts for yourself at a boutique or sporting goods store.

Take a class or a tasting
You and your significant other can spend some quality time learning new skills and recipes at Stowe Kitchen Bath & Linens cooking classes. Upcoming menus include a modern take on New England cuisine, southern classics and holiday cocktail party favorites. Trapp Family Lodge’s experienced sommelier offers tastings every Wednesday and Saturday in the lodge’s wine cellar. Taste a variety of wines and learn the history behind someone your favorites. Cork Wine Bar & Market will be offering holiday wine classes, as well as a special tasting on Burgundy’s. Not a wine lover? Enjoy cider, drink specials and live music at Stowe Cider’s Cider Saturdays.

Dining
Let someone else do the cooking. Harrison’s Restaurant & Bar offers a cozy, fireside dining experience. The unique décor and classic dishes are a must have in Stowe. Enjoy entrees like grilled Prime Rib and Bacon Wrapped Scallops paired with Vermont fresh pasta. Finish off the meal by sharing a Frozen Mocha Cheesecake. The Bistro at Ten Acres offers some of the best views in Stowe, as well as fireside dining in a beautifully renovated 1820’s farmhouse. Choose two entrees to share, like the Duck Confit with apricot glaze and the hand-made Fettuccini Carbonara. Trattoria La Festa is a family-owned restaurant and has been serving Stowe delicious food for more than 30 years. Enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in this cozy, candlelit restaurant on red oil tablecloths. Try their homemade potato gnocchi with the Tiramisu’ Di Roma or Apple Gallette for dessert.

Catch a Show
Local theatre’s will be showing holiday classics, such as “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and Then Some!)”, a show where three actors decide to perform every Christmas story ever told and more. At Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, see the Reduced Shakespeare Company perform “The Ultimate Christmas Show”, an irreverent yet heartwarming trip through the holidays. Stowe’s annual Messiah Sing will be December 17 at Stowe Community Church.

No matter what activities you choose to do, you’ll leave Stowe feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready for the rest of the holiday season.
