Stowe Story Labs Brings International Film Talent to Stowe

The peaceful, mountainous setting of Stowe, Vermont has become a haven for the world’s top emerging film and TV talents. Screenwriters, filmmakers and creative producers from around the world attend retreats, workshops and mentoring programs offered by Stowe Story Labs, which helps get their work made and seen. Our non-profit collaborative offers labs, retreats and workshops worldwide, but Stowe is home base for the Labs’ programming.
Stowe Story Labs takes participants through a carefully designed program focused on story and the art of collaboration. Being in the Stowe environment is a significant element of the program as it fosters the creative process and allows participants to open their minds to new approaches and ideas—all while enjoying a wonderful, serene environment.
The anchor program run by Stowe Story Labs is the Annual Narrative Lab, held annually at the Helen Day Art Center. The spirit and energy of this day sets the tone for the Labs’ programming year. Being in Stowe also feeds into that spirit. The natural environment surrounding Stowe envelops the group as we build out content for film and T.V. programs. The Stowe community embraces the program as well. The Labs works with storied Stowe lodges and premier dining partners that reinforce the spirit of the Labs, including the Brass Lantern Inn, Golden Eagle Resort, the Little River Inn, Stowe Motel & Snowdrift the Timberholm Inn, The Bench and Doc Ponds.
Stowe Story Labs is also building a world-wide virtual community of like-minded but independent artists, and the Stowe Narrative Lab is the entry point into our community. For a fee, admitted applicants will have access to all content as well as top industry mentors. Stowe Story Labs also offers about a dozen partial scholarships to the program and at current count 11 fellowships to the fall lab, while working to keep fees as low as possible. Lodging partners offer discounts to lab participants, many of which include full breakfast.
The application for the 2019 2019 Annual Fall Lab is open until April 29, 2019. Next year, the Labs is excited to bring a world-class film festival to Stowe in partnership with the Sidewalk Film Festival of Birmingham, Alabama, with programming planned to start in 2020.
