The Ultimate Summer Mountain Adventures

There’s a quote on the door leading into the Adventure Center that says, “When was the last time you did something for the first time?” Stowe Mountain Resort may be best known for world-class skiing in the winter, but the town and resort are true four-season destinations. Summer is an amazing time of year to visit the Green Mountains. Mount Mansfield and the surrounding area offer an abundance of activities—from hiking and mountain biking, to kayaking and fly fishing.

Summer mountain adventure took on a whole new meaning in 2015 with the introduction of ZipTour and TreeTop Adventures at Stowe Mountain Resort. ZipTour consists of three different spans with a total of 2 miles of cable. You can travel up to 65 miles per hour! It’s hard to beat the feeling of flying through the air at nearly 200 feet off the ground with the wind in your face and adrenaline pumping while absorbing the scenic views from every direction. Whether you’re a true beginner or an avid guest, ZipTour Adventure is an equally thrilling experience every time you go. It truly never gets old—especially during foliage season! If you crave high-speed thrills or want to soar above the trees, you won’t want to miss this activity.

Our TreeTop Adventure is just as thrilling in its own right. There are more than 60 games and obstacles dispersed among six different courses throughout the Mansfield forest canopy.  My favorite challenge is the Tarzan swing into the cargo net where you can—and must—do your best Tarzan impression before letting loose and taking a breathtaking leap off that platform!

As the Senior Manager of Lift Operations at Stowe Mountain Resort, my job is to oversee the summer operations for the resort’s lifts and outdoor harnessed activities, and guide guests through the demo experience and onto the green course. It’s rewarding to both watch and help others step outside their comfort zone, try something new and see their confidence grow as they move through each obstacle. It’s also a special opportunity to meet and work with people from all over the world, and I’m privileged to get to work in one of the most beautiful spots in Vermont.

If you’re ready to try something for the first time, or love to get outside and enjoy nature, plan your next summer adventure to Stowe, Vermont!
