A Girls’ Getaway to the Green Mountains

After the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s important to truly recharge. I cannot think of a better recharge than rounding up all my favorite girlfriends for a Vermont escape! I’m partial to the Stowe area and  can’t get enough of the fresh mountain air, relaxed lifestyle and the best of the best—from the mountains to Main Street. The variety of experiences in Stowe make the perfect girls’ getaway. Most of my girlfriends still live around the Boston area which is an easy three-hour drive north.

There’s nothing like starting our retreat with a morning of shopping. They say jewelry is a girl’s best friend, and Von Bargen’s Jewelry has one of the best collections around. Von Bargen’s is a family-owned business curating the finest artisan jewelry created by exceptional designers focusing on high standards for design and social responsibility.

Heading further up Mountain Road a stop at BunyaBunya is always a must. This women’s clothing boutique is filled with colorful boho vibes that are comfortable, casual and always stylish.

Growing up my girlfriends and I used to figure skate together, so our next stop is to Spruce Peak to go ice skating. The experience of skating outdoors with a view of skiers on magnificent Mt. Mansfield, surrounded by the gorgeous post-and-beam architecture, is the most magical experience you can only find at Spruce Peak. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a gentle snowstorm for extra outdoor skating magic. Bring your own skates and it’s free, or rent skates from inside Spruce Camp base.

By the time we’re done skating our bodies will be sore, so a treatment at The Spa at Spruce Peak is in order. The spa is a short walk across a cobblestone walkway from the ice rink. We slip into comfy robes and relax in the lounge before enjoying a hot stone massage. It’s the perfect retreat during our girls’ retreat!

Hungry after a long day of shopping, skating and relaxing at the spa, we head down to the charming historic Village for dinner. Cork Wine Bar is always my favorite spot for dinner with the ladies because of their shareable small plates, gigantic charcuterie boards and amazing wine section.

Relive old times and create new memories shopping, relaxing at spas, having fun outdoors and wining and dining with your girlfriends. With a scenic a mountain backdrop and endless experiences year-round, you sure don’t want to miss a girls’ getaway to Stowe, Vermont!
