There’s nothing quite like the thrill of riding through the woods on a snowmobile! It’s an exhilarating way for the whole family to experience Vermont’s winter wonderland. Best thing is, you don’t need any experience to get into it. If you’re looking for an exciting outdoor adventure and want to explore the Vermont wilderness from a unique perspective, be prepared for an unforgettable experience!

New to snowmobiling? No problem.

As Vermont’s oldest snowmobile tour company, Snowmobile Vermont is always excited to introduce this fast-growing winter sport to new people. Snowmobiles are easy to operate, and guided tours are customized to your ability and interests. Tour groups are small so you get individual attention and are riding with people with a similar skill level. Our guides are friendly, knowledgeable, and excited to take you on your snowmobiling adventure—whether it’s your very first ride or a custom tour to your favorite spot.

Safety first.

Before your adventure on the trails, our staff makes sure you’re outfitted properly for the weather and safety. You’ll want to dress warmly as if you’re going skiing, including warm gloves. Boots and helmets are provided, and snow suits are available to rent, if needed. Once you’re properly outfitted, we provide an introduction to the snowmobiles through a safety video before we leave for the trails, and another intro with the snowmobile. This “pre-game” preparation is key to having a safe and fun time, and maximizing a full two hours on the trails. We’ve also taken steps to be safe during the pandemic.

Off to the trails!

Now that you’re warmly dressed and familiar with the basics of safe snowmobile operation, it’s time for a spin or two around the field with your guide to get the hang of it and make sure you’re comfortable. This is a good chance to ask any questions or pick up a few tips from our expert guides. Then we’re off to the trails! We take you on a 25-mile adventure through varied terrain in Stowe’s backcountry, including hills, woods, straightaways and speed—if you want it!  Your guide will check in with you frequently to make sure you’re feeling comfortable. As you gain confidence, you’ll be able to pick up speed as you wind through the woods. Your guides know where the good scenic spots are so you can stop and take a few photos, or just enjoy a wintry wooded vista. If you’re a more experienced rider or fast-learner, there are opportunities to “open it up” in a field or straightaway for an extra adrenaline rush.

Are you ready for some excitement among the fresh Green Mountain air? Let us take you on a snowmobile tour around Stowe this winter! We’re committed to making everyone’s experience a special and memorable one, and safety is a big part of that.  If you’re traveling from out-of-state, be sure to check out Vermont’s travel guidelines. And, importantly, don’t forget to enter to win one of four complimentary rides through the Go Stowe Instagram Giveaway with Snowmobile Vermont! If you’re in the historic Stowe Village, be sure to stop by the Stowe Visitor Information Center and check out our snowmobile photo booth for a selfie opp!
