If you’re planning to pop the question, there’s no doubt that Stowe, Vermont is a magical place to do it! With beautiful landscapes and incredible views, you can’t go wrong getting down on one knee in our quaint little town that was named one of the most romantic ski towns by Elite Daily. Read on for more helpful tips for planning your proposal in Stowe, and memories that’ll last a lifetime!

Location

With so many beautiful spots, choosing a great location shouldn’t be hard. But if you’re planning your proposal from out-of-town, it can feel overwhelming! Here are a few ideas for you.

Local Hotels and Resorts: Trapp Family Lodge and Stowe Mountain Resort both offer stunning views and a number of beautiful locations to propose. In addition, there are a countless number of bed and breakfasts and smaller hotels that would make for a perfect and more private proposal venue. Check out Go Stowe’s directory of local accommodations. Tip: Reach out to your hotel ahead of time to make sure they do not have other events planned and also get permission if you’ll be having a photographer capture the moment.

Mountaintops: Are you and your love hiking enthusiasts? If so, consider hiking up to one of our local peaks, In addition to the many routes up Mount Mansfield, consider a spot from the Notch Road such as Sterling Pond or nearby Stowe Pinnacle and Mount Hunger.
Water Spots: Stowe has two waterfalls: Bingham and Moss Glen Falls, as well as access to Waterbury Reservoir (can we say romantic canoe ride?!) and the Little River, which flows off of the reservoir. Grab a blanket and picnic supplies for the perfect proposal moment by the water.
Rustic Buildings and Other Scenery: Stowe has its fair share of cool old rustic buildings and beautiful scenery at nearly every turn off the road. Be sure that any buildings or land you access are public or that you get the owner’s permission ahead of time.
Special Events: Stowe hosts many events throughout the year that could be the perfect venue for your proposal! From beer festivals to concerts and hot air balloon festivals, there’s lots of fun to choose from. Check out Go Stowe’s daily events calendar.

Seasons, Weather and Back-up Plans

Although Stowe is beautiful in every season, summer, fall and winter are all fantastic times to get away for a proposal weekend. No matter when you come, Vermont weather can be finicky, which can be more difficult to plan for. It’s always best to have a back-up plan. Some options include an adorable historic covered bridge (Gold Brook a.k.a Emily’s Bridge) or one of the many upscale dining options such as Harrison’s Restaurant.

Capturing the Moment: If you didn’t take a picture, did it even happen? Just kidding… but! Should you decide you want to capture the special moment and have images documenting it in such a beautiful landscape, you can connect with some of Stowe’s local photographers.
