It’s no wonder one of the most popular summer activities in the area is hiking, with rolling hills, more than 45 trails for all abilities including the famous Long Trail that crosses over Mount Mansfield. Another favorite activity is mountain biking with an extensive trail system, including quiet trails on land conserved for recreation. On hot summer days, paddling is an especially great way to stay cool while viewing the scenic landscape. Stowe’s swimming holes are also a great way to chill with family and friends. Though the popular activities are reason enough to check out Stowe, there are many one-of-a-kind ways to experience Stowe in a new light. Get “lost” in the Vermont woods and try your hand at disc golf with several courses in the area including where the world championships are held! Take in an aerial view of the Stowe valley on a gondola ride at Stowe Mountain Resort, or soar through the trees on a zip line adventure! Whether you’re a seasoned angler, or looking to learn a new hobby, the Stowe area offers some of the best fishing in Vermont’s peaceful rivers, lakes, ponds and reservoirs. An experienced local guide can show you the best spots. Stowe is an international destination for the arts. Be inspired at an event, gallery or exhibit. Want to be shown around by a knowledgeable local? There are a variety of tours available including ebikes on the Stowe Recreation Path and Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, bike rides out to Lake Champlain, and tasting tours.

After having a bite at a restaurant on Mountain Road, walk the scenic Rec Path or stroll the quaint and historic downtown village and browse the assortment of shops. Treat yourself to a new blouse or piece of jewelry, or take a piece of Stowe home with you to decorate your home and remind you of Vermont. Looking to venture out a bit more? Take a scenic drive and check out a cascading waterfall or one of Stowe’s three classic covered bridges. The Green Mountain Byway itself passes right through Stowe—offering visitors access to many of Vermont’s hidden gems.

From races and parades, to music and film festivals, Stowe’s time-honored signature events are not to be missed! Discover unique annual summer events in Stowe like the Vermont Renaissance Faire. Considered one of Country Living’s “20 of the Best Places to Watch Fireworks in 2022,” An Old Fashioned Fourth of July is a family-friendly event complete with parades, a festival with live music and fireworks. Take in the scenic views at sunset at the picturesque Trapp Family Lodge meadow while having a picnic and enjoying a concert at Music in the Meadow. Looking for an athletic challenge? The Race to the Top of Vermont is a 4.3-mile climb up Mt. Mansfield with spectacular views to boot. There are also a variety of daily events in Stowe such as live music and beverage tastings.
